iPC-EX! Mobile PC operator station with WinCC PCS 7 in the hazardous area!HMI (human machine interface) devices for multipurpose systems installed in process environments (category II 2G, Zone 1) have to comply with very exacting requirements. They must guarantee consistently high performance regardless of their actual location, operate with no loss over large distances and adapt flexibly to the respective system configuration.
6 iPC-EX AXENA mobile PC operator stations from Pepperl+Fuchs EXTEC are used in Bayer CropScience AG’s new multipurpose plant in Dormagen, Germany, to visualize the Siemens WinCC PCS 7 process control system. Data is transferred from the control room to each iPC-EX system via 24 optical fiber plug-in connectors for Ex data (HARTING) distributed throughout the production facilities as well as via optical fiber patch panels in the control room itself. 230 V Ex sockets installed in the various facilities serve to supply power to the HMI systems. The iPC-EX systems can be quickly and easily relocated to other production facilities if necessary. The trolley developed by Bayer CropScience AG makes an excellent complement to the integrated concept, lending added flexibility to these high-end PC operator stations.
