SCANEX/TASTEX/S2K-Wedge! The smart combination for hazardous areas!The term “HMI (human machine interface) devices and solutions” usually only refers to operator panels, panel PCs and PC operator stations. A rather different kind of HMI solution for hazardous areas was recently implemented at Merck, Sharp & Dome in Asia.
All barcodes are read in using an EX-DRAGON D-101 cable scanner belonging to the SCANEX product family. The barcode information is supplied directly to the keyboard port for further processing in the application software on the PC unit with the help of the S2K-Wedge software package from Pepperl+Fuchs EXTEC. Setpoints, texts etc are entered on the TASTEX-K3 Exi keyboard, which is remote from the PC. Pepperl+Fuchs EXTEC leverages successful, modern system configurations from the safe area to develop and design efficient product solutions for the hazardous area.
