The Remote Process Interface (RPI) represents an economical way to connect measurement signals from hazardous or safe areas to the control or SCADA system using a single fieldbus line
The PCEX panel PC belonging to the VISUEX product family is an optimized PC hardware platform for visualizing medium-sized project applications which is certified for use in hazardous areas in accordance with categories II 2G and II 2D.
The combination of these two families facilitates an inexpensive and flexible system solution for collecting measurement data from the hazardous (Zones 0-2) or safe area and displaying it on a panel PC installed in the hazardous area with the help of a customized SCADA application. Data transfer between the RPI and the PCEX is implemented with Modbus on RS485. Using the Ethernet network interface on the PCEX, plant operators can also upload this data to a higher-level control system for further processing, for instance.
